Today, the new museographic installation of the interpretation center of the Roca dels Moros del Cogul rock art site (Les Garrigues) has been inaugurated, for which I was responsible for the scenic design. The mission has been to re-sacralize a mystical environment.
In 2007, I made a proposal for the same facility which was thwarted by the economic crisis the following year. This time, Abacus and Layers of Reality contacted me to design the museographic space for the Catalan Agency of Cultural Heritage.
In 1998, the cave paintings of the Roca dels Moros were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, I have the honor of being part of the team for the new presentation, titled "The Rock of Women," where the most striking element of the scenic proposal is a full-scale reproduction of the cave that houses the paintings and is located about a hundred meters higher, outside the building.
The museographic space features an immersive metaverse experience, and the entire installation aims to bring to the present some paintings and writings from the past that were witnesses to ancestral rituals. With this setup, we bring back to life a sacred space over 10,000 years old.
